Yala National Park is a must see for foreigners as well as for locals. Leopards, Sloth bears and Elephants are three of the ‘’Big five in Sri Lanka” that can be encountered at Yala. Apart from that, buffaloes, foxes, herds of deer, various kinds of birds, and crocodiles can also be observed. We are situated 25 mins away from the Yala main entrance and 5 mins away from the Katagamuwa entrance.

Kataragama Kiri Vehera

Kataragama Kirivehera is a place where you can feel the history in the air. The Kiri Vehera stands as a quiet, snowy-white stupa which is 95 feet tall amidst the bustle of the jungle. It is located just a short 800-meter walk (about 10 minutes) from the main Kataragama Devalaya, so you can easily visit both sacred places.

The best time to go is early morning or late evening when it’s cooler, as you have to walk barefoot and the sand gets very hot during the day. Visiting during the evening Pooja (around 6:30 PM) is extra special because of the oil lamps and chanting. It’s a great place to clear your mind and enjoy a moment of calm away from the busy crowds.
